The Advanced Scene Study Intensive is specifically designed for theatre professionals only. It offers a practical, Meisner based, very human approach to contemporary scene work. The emphasis is on the individual and understanding the link between our life and our art. The ultimate objective being how to live more truthfully and fully both onstage and off.

History of the Advanced Scene Study Intensive
The Advanced Scene Study Intensive was established in 2002 by Darrell W. Cox (one of Profiles'
Artistic Directors) and Erica Daniels (Steppenwolf's Associate Artistic Director and Casting Director). Beginning in 2008, Rick Snyder (Steppenwolf Ensemble Member and award-winning actor/director) began teaching along with Mr. Cox, the two having first worked together in the Midwest Premiere of Craig Wright's Orange Flower Water at Steppenwolf.
Philosophy
This quote by T.S. Elliot has always governed our approach to the work, "A condition of complete simplicity (costing not less than everything)." Trusting one's intuition intellectually and emotionally, ultimately simplifying the process, is our goal.
Specifics
The six week session will mirror the rehearsal to performance process. Each student will work with another actor on one contemporary scene for the entire six week period.
The first five weeks will be taught by Darrell W. Cox and the final week will be taught by Rick Snyder, who will critique and work all of the scenes.
Auditions are required, as class size is limited to ten students. All students will work onstage every class. Complete plays from which the scenes are selected will be provided by Profiles.
