Set during the 1933 Chicago World's Fair, THE WATER ENGINE tells the story of an immigrant inventor who has created a machine that runs on water, only to find himself threatened by big business who would like to see it destroyed. The play is presented as a radio drama and performed as if the live theatrical audience members were at the studio. THE WATER ENGINEis a classic morality fable of greed and social conspiracy.

"The acting is up to Profiles' usual high standard, and the direction is clear, clean and unpretentious, a superb production!"

- Jack Helbig, CHICAGO READER

"Highly recommended! The directors sculpt evocative images in visual design and aural delivery into the dark cityscape conveyed in Mamet's story!"

- Sid Smith, CHICAGO TRIBUNE
