The Day Room

Profiles presented the Chicago premiere of the first play by acclaimed novelist Don DeLillo at the Chicago Cooperative Stage. The play is set in a hospital room in which two patients are awaiting a series of routine tests. All is normal at first, until it's discovered that the doctors and nurses might just be escaped inmates from the Arno Klein Psychiatric Wing. But as this dark comedy unfolds through DeLillo's ingenious dialogue, no one is who they seem to be and the audience's sense of identity and normalcy is shattered. Don DeLillo has also written the highly acclaimed novels, WHITE NOISE and LIBRA.

"A powerful interaction of illusion and reality to which DeLillo adds his own gift for graceful language, put over with zest and conviction by its eager cast!"

- Richard Christiansen, CHICAGO TRIBUNE

"A challenging mind teaser for the audience, directed in a subtle, understated manner that raises the laugh quotient!"

- Fred Nuccio, SKYLINE NEWSPAPER
